To compensate for impacts resulting from the 3.7 mile US Route 9 highway improvement project, D&K provided delineation, evaluation, and mapping for wetlands and threatened and endangered species. Completed a wetland mitigation site search of the entire Deerfield River watershed and performed a hydrologic assessment of the selected mitigation site. Achieved consensus by US Army Corps of Engineers, US Environmental Protection Agency, US Fish & Wildlife, and Vermont Agency of Natural Resources for 9-acre Cold Brook site.
The mitigation site design included erosion control plans with grading and landscaping and two-year storm velocity calculations to create emergent marsh, wet meadow, scrub-shrub, and forested wetland to compensate for unavoidable wetland losses associated with the highway improvement project. Provided assistance to Vermont Agency of Transportation for development of Corps of Engineers 404 Individual Permit, Vermont Conditional Use Determination, and Act 250 applications.
