Steam Conversion, 9 State Facilities

Concord, New Hampshire | NH Department of Environmental Services

D&K provided mechanical, electrical, structural, landscape architecture, and civil design and retro-commissioning services for modifications of nine state facilities, converting from district steam to various types of local heating systems.

D&K designed a new steam boiler plant—located remotely from the buildings it served—for the New Hampshire State House and two other State buildings. The project team designed a new steam distribution and condensate return system to serve the three major facilities through buried piping systems and underground steam utility vaults. Our mechanical engineers developed a design for the installation of a new low-pressure steam boiler with a boiler feedwater tank and a condensate return system. The project team repiped the system to feed the building steam terminal units. The renovation of a parking lot and plaza at the proposed boiler building included perimeter and foundation plantings and a brick entrance plaza with lighting and benches.
