DuBois & King was the prime consultant for a design/build project to provide engineering and construction services for the reconstruction of South Gale Road and of four bridges. A storm event damaged sections of the roadway, removing surfacing and cutting into the subgrade and ditch, and damaging four road bridges. The roadway design included restoring the roadway sections, providing slope stability, improving drainage, and replacing aggregate surfacing and some asphalt surfacing. The roadway construction included embankment construction, drainage excavation, and installation of a culvert and paved aprons to four bridges.
DuBois & King performed field survey for an approximate .5 mile length of Forest Service highway and four stream crossings, base mapping, and utility coordination; secured geotechnical borings; identified wetlands; prepared permit applications and preliminary and final design plans in state plane coordinates; and provided construction phase services. During construction, D&K surveyors returned to the field to stake out the bridge locations and re-establish survey control in the field for the contractor.
