Jewett Brook Watershed Assessment and Plan

Laconia, New Hampshire

At the request of the City of Laconia and under the authority of the Corps of Engineers, the D&K Water Resources team performed studies of Jewett Brook to determine the feasibility of constructing flood damage reduction measures. The D&K team prepared a Watershed Management Plan documenting existing conditions in the Jewett Brook watershed and identifying several restoration methods. D&K identified specific solutions to alleviate flooding during less than 100-year events, including enlarging the conveyance area to improve the channel’s carrying capacity and dredging portions of the channel. Services included:

Fluvial geomorphic assessment using Vermont Protocols
Hydrologic analysis
Prepared HEC-RAS model of stream channel
Identified and evaluated non-structural restoration measures
Field survey
Preliminary Watershed Plan
