Rehabilitation and landscape services for City Hall Park, an important focal point resting at the intersection of six major streets and aesthetically compromised by surrounding heavy vehicular traffic. Protecting the integrity and safe access of the Park for pedestrians, visitors, and as an urban space were City concerns. DuBois & King proposed two alternatives as concepts for rehabilitation, each using a complement of park elements, including paving, landscaping, pedestrian scale lighting, seating, drinking fountains, and bicycle racks. Core elements of the proposed rehabilitation plan include reconstruction of the historic gazebo built in 1878; reconstruction and improvements to the park sidewalks; addition and improvement to landscaping and streetscaping; improvements and upgrades to water and electrical systems; and restoration of historic and national award winning Soldiers and Sailors Memorial built in 1924. Provided updated landscaping, streetscaping, and sidewalk configurations for the park. Refinements to landscaping, sidewalks, and streetscaping concepts were made based on local committee input.
