Retaining Wall, One Taylor Street

Montpelier, Vermont | City of Montpelier

The City of Montpelier, in cooperation with the Federal Transit Authority and the Vermont Agency of Transportation, was redeveloping a brownfield site for a transit center, parking, and multiuse path on the banks of the Winooski River. The project required stabilization of a 135-ft-long by 27-ft-high section of river embankment. D&K provided geotechnical, civil, and structural engineering to lead the design, permitting, and construction phase services for a new block wall to stabilize the slope using locally available granite blocks. Our team also provided the environmental professional services associated with the management of contaminated soils and coordination with the US EPA and the VT DEC Brownfields Program.
