Emergency Siphon Replacement

Randolph, Vermont | Town of Randolph

During the surge of Tropical Storm Irene, flows at the town’s wastewater treatment facility decreased by 60%. It was determined that a double-barrel sewer siphon, consisting of an inlet and outlet structure, was destroyed by the storm when the Third Branch of the White River migrated 90 feet to the northeast. D&K provided design and construction phase services for emergency replacement of the sewer siphon. The project team assisted the town with damage assessments immediately following the storm, including identifying and coordinating the installation of an emergency bypass pumping system to stem the discharge of raw wastewater into the river from approximately two-thirds of the town.
