Alburgh Water System Improvements

Alburgh, Vermont | Village of Alburgh

The Alburgh Village Water System (WSID 0005316) uses a surface water intake from Lake Champlain, a water treatment facility, and water mains to supply approximately 400 service connections and a population of 576. The water system included an elevated painted steel storage tank constructed in 1988 that served Alburgh’s Designated Village Center, South Alburgh Fire District No. 2, and a portion of West Shore Road that extends into a consecutive water system. D&K prepared a Preliminary Engineering Report (PER) and Environmental Information Document to evaluate options for the rehabilitation of the current water tank (by recoating) or the construction of a new tank. We assisted the Village with Planning Loan applications for final design funding from the DWSRF. During final design, D&K prepared an updated hydraulic model for the water system to determine the recommended water tank elevation; evaluated the capacity needed for domestic demand and fire flows; completed a geotechnical evaluation; developed a sequencing plan for the replacement of the existing elevated steel tank; and designed a tank mixing system and several related site improvements.
