Slopes and Retaining Walls

D&K provides slope and structural engineering, hydrogeology, hydrology and hydraulics, fluvial geomorphology, planting plans, permitting, and construction phase services for slopes, retaining walls, earth-supported structures (foundations, culverts, bridges, and dams), and other earth retaining systems. We design slope protection projects to address river channel-induced erosion, local erosion, and acute erosion from the top of embankments. We employ both hard and soft measures to support roadways, foundations, sites, bridges, dams and other infrastructure.

We have consistently led the successful completion of emergency slope failure response projects with tight timelines, limited budgets, substantial regulatory coordination, and funding timing requirements, such as those required by FEMA and FHWA-ER programs. Our engineering teams also provide slope design on an on-call basis for DOTs and other state agencies, regional planning commissions, and federal entities.
