St. Paul Reconstruction, Great Streets BTV

Burlington, Vermont | City of Burlington

The Great Streets BTV planning document, coauthored by D&K, represented a holistic effort to make Burlington’s downtown core more appealing for users of all modes of transportation and to enhance the area’s ability to engage its natural and cultural assets. D&K’s approach to the project incorporated the first segments of roadway designed and constructed to the Great Streets standards. Elements of the standards informed the design, including the geometry of the roadway, materials, streetscape amenities, green stormwater, and lighting. Our team’s design undergrounded overhead utilities to enhance the aesthetic of this entrance roadway to the downtown core. D&K also designed the associated stormwater, roadway, streetscape, and other appurtenances to reconstruct and upgrade two blocks of St. Paul Street.
