Otter View Park

Middlebury, Vermont | Middlebury Land Trust

Otter View Park is an ADA-accessible public park that consists of a series of trails located on 17 acres next to the Otter Creek. The park provides pedestrian access through a variety of natural settings, such as upland meadow, cattail marsh, wetland shrubs, and floodplain forest. D&K designed the park and pathways; performed topographic and boundary survey, and wetland delineation; and provided water and sewer design.

Project Elements

• Design of a trail, trailhead parking, overlook viewing areas, and an 800-ft-long elevated boardwalk across the wetland floodplain
• Municipal, Act 250, and VANR permitting

Sustainable Elements

• Recycled composite fiber material was used for decking, railing surface, and bench seats.
• The elevated boardwalk was designed using a helical pier foundation system, enabling construction from the deck side, reducing impacts to the wetlands.
