Hartford Rest Area

Hartford, Vermont | Vermont Agency of Transportation

The D&K team modernized the southbound rest area, providing improved visitor amenities, parking, and pedestrian areas while reusing existing infrastructure. We provided design and plan preparation and permitting services for the construction of site improvements and the expansion of the six-acre, 5,000-SF facility. Services included the preparation of base maps and design layouts for buses, ramps, pedestrian, vehicle flow, and parking. D&K designed site grading to address drainage, ADA accessibility, and building entries and provided federal and state permitting and opinions of probable construction costs.

The D&K team coordinated closely with several state agencies to address the operational concerns of all users. The site layout was designed to allow the segregation of selected trucks from other welcome center users for the purpose of conducting truck inspections.
