EHC Intake Structure Maintenance

West Hopkinton, New Hampshire | Private client

Located downstream of a large flood control dam, the EHC hydroelectric facility includes turbines at two locations along a one-mile-long intake channel and produces approximately 1.26 MW. The owner needed to replace and upgrade various components of the intake, including replacing the headgate lifting frame, replacing the rack-raker system, replacing the existing timber site/retaining walls with concrete walls, and repairing the existing concrete intake structure. D&K conducted field survey, designed and detailed a steel frame to replace the existing headgate lifting frame and support the new rack-raker, designed concrete site walls, identified locations of deterioration of the intake structure and recommended repair details, and provided construction administration.
