Bethel for All Master Plan
Bethel, Vermont | Town of Bethel
A small village with an unusually high number of recreation facilities and historic commercial concerns, Bethel sought to improve its streetscape, wayfinding, and access for persons with disabilities. To address these issues, D&K’s planners developed a first-of-its-kind accessibility plan for a Vermont community. The plan included design guidelines to help businesses improve access for patrons with mental, sensory, and physical disabilities and several discrete action items to enhance accessibility during the design and construction of improvements. Our team included an economic development subconsultant, an accessibility specialist. A robust public engagement program was a vital part of the project, so our team added a public engagement subconsultant who lived in the community. The plan also identified opportunities to install green stormwater infrastructure throughout the project area.
