ARPA Healthy Homes

Statewide, Vermont | Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation

Manufactured housing communities in Vermont provide practical housing solutions; however, some of these communities are disproportionately affected by environmental issues. The Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation sought consultants to provide Preliminary Engineering Reports (PERs) and design solutions that responded to the specific challenges faced by MHCs and a backlog of failing wastewater, potable water, and stormwater system infrastructure. D&K provided engineering assistance to 11 MHCs around the state, with funding provided by the ARPA Healthy Homes Initiative. In an 11-month timeframe, D&K developed inspection checklists for uniform data collection and deployed field teams to assess the drinking water, wastewater, and drainage infrastructure at each of the MHCs. In the two subsequent years, our team was reselected to provide assessments for 19 more communities.
