Costello Courthouse Energy Audit

To support VT BGS, D&K completed an energy audit of a six-story, 165,000-SF courthouse. The project team conducted a review of available documentation and performed field investigations to document building envelope insulation and air sealing; HVAC equipment, systems, and controls; plumbing fixtures and water heating equipment; lighting fixtures, illumination levels, and controls; plug loads; and demand reduction solutions, including ice storage and alternatives to fossil fuel heating (heat pumps and wood pellets/chips). We reviewed the building control systems, investigated energy usage and potential reduction opportunities, developed associated construction costs for upgrades and life-cycle costs, calculated total greenhouse gas reductions, and submitted a final summary report to the state.
